OUR STORY

 

Before we became Belly Rub N Grub, we had been rescuing animals, starting as children, some for approximately 50+ years. In 2019, we decided to turn our passion into a registered nonprofit 501(c)3 animal rescue, which was when Belly Rub N Grub was born!

Belly Rub N Grub rescues abused, dumped, lost, stranded and stray cats and dogs, as well as feral cats. Belly Rub N Grub makes sure they are up to date on their vaccines, spayed/neutered, tested for viruses, FeLV tests etc. Belly Rub N Grub makes sure that our rescue animals see vets upon rescue and as necessary.

Belly Rub N Grub also does TNR, as well as help other rescues and community members with TNR. TNR is when we trap, neuter and release community/feral cats, as well as vaccinate. However, we, at Belly Rub N Grub volunteers don’t have the heart to release them back into the street. Belly Rub N Grub works with a working cat network, where these feral cats are adopted by ranches, farms, barns and other potential homes to work, as mousers, a secure home and veterinary services, as needed. These TNR’d cats come to Belly Rub N Grub solo, in pairs, families such as a pregnant mama or a mama with kittens from newborns, on. Belly Rub N Grub also gets orphaned bottle babies etc. If Belly Rub N Grub is unable to place the feral cats in a barn right away, Belly Rub N Grub holds onto them until a spot is open and the kittens stay with Belly Rub N Grub until they are adopted out, unless Belly Rub N Grub is assisting another organization or a community member who wants to continue caring for their community cats.

To ensure that Belly Rub N Grub’s rescue animals go to safe homes, home checks and interviews are conducted. Of course, an adoption fee is charged. Belly Rub N Grub has home checkers and interviewers in California, Colorado, and Utah. Belly Rub N Grub travels to these states, to take our babies to their new families, after the home checks have been approved.
